Hairstyling scissors were born from an indomitable spirit
"Where there's a will, there's a way" is one of famous quotes from a financial reformer, Uesugi Harunori (Yōzan). And our former president, Shuichi Hasegawa, has taken it as his own maxim throughout his entire career. Shuichi Hasegawa was born and raised in a small blacksmith factory, where he learned and mastered his iron crafting skills. His signature phrase, "The son of a blacksmith can only be a blacksmith." So he has dedicated all his life's work to blacksmithing perfection.
Our company, Motokoma Manufactory, evolves from a small traditional iron works factory which was founded more than a hundred years ago. In the days of our grandfathers, we mainly manufactured and sold cutting tools for electrical works. Later, in the era of Showa (1926-1989), also known as era of economic development and turmoil, market demands for iron crafts thrived and soared. Shuichi Hasegawa decided to make handcraft gifts, gardening tools, hand tools……etc. to cater general needs of the public. As a result, a small iron-works factory had grown into a hand tool manufacturer.
With inherited blacksmith spirit and craftsman's blood in the vein, our president, Keiko Hasegawa, has brought blacksmith's craftsmanship into a brand new level of delicacy. Decided to make hairdressing scissors in 1985, Motokoma Manufactory had aimed to make a perfect pair. After 10 years of research and development, trial and error, and believing in "Where there’s a will, there's a way", we now can proudly present our flawless products to hairstylists.
For quality seeking beauticians, it is recommended to try one of our hair shearing products. They were meticulously made by the masters who inherited perfect craftsmanship along with perseverant spirit.
